I went natural almost a year ago matter fact my anniversary is coming up here soon. Going natural was the best thing I have ever done! I believe every African American female should keep their hair natural, first of all it’s a WHOLE! lot cheaper to keep up, & you feel so liberated/divine after. We as black people need to stop teaching our children that their crown is not beautiful. I met this white girl who wished she can get her hair into a AFRO & black females are trying to ran from it. SAD
Also, in the beginning I was commenting about the people who constantly put relaxers and then put weaves on their heads, especially the ones who put a relaxer in and then 2 days later put a weave in only to take the weave out in a month to put another relaxer in and put a weave back on. Or even those who keep put in relaxers when they 90% of the time have a weave in. That isnt necessary and it’s harmful to your hair. So if you want to be an advocate for unhealthy hair so be it but Im for healthy
They were a weave so they can get a style without messing up their curl pattern.
It is not harder to maintain, or more fragile, you just can’t go raking through your hair with a comb. People need to start knowing how to comb their hair too, because a lot of people do it wrong and then get breakage.
It’s easier to break off the relaxed hair because you take out all of the protein, It’s strength.
If you love it so much why do you want to change it to be something else permanently?
You said, “who feels like doing their hair all the time?” So I know that you have to do natural hair but you were saying basically you don’t have to do your hair when its in a weave.
If you know how to do it it’s not difficult at all. You don’t have to straighten it, our hair wasn’t meant to be straight if it doesn’t come out like that. Sure put a weave in it but don’t put a relaxer in it underneath of it. Why do we have to have it kinky all the time, we don’t, but that’s the way your made.
You have to do the weave all the time….Why do you have to have your hair straight all the time, it’s like saying your hair isn’t nice or good by hiding it all the time. Why do you need it straight anyway if your going to have a weave? Why can’t you get a wavy weave? or a non straight weave? When’s the last time you’ve seen your natural hair? If it’s more kinky it can keep it’s shape better making it more versatile.
I’m talking about the women who relax their hair but always have their hair in weaves or wigs. It doesn’t make sense to relax your hair if it’s never going to be seen. I didn’t say relaxed hair can’t grow, I have had long hair when I was fully relaxed, I know people who have long relaxed hair. It’s not good for your hair to relax it and then put stress on it.
Relaxing your hair permanently takes protein from it damaging its natural state. like taking protein out of ur body, won’t be as healthy
Complete genius! You know if everyone would resolve their difference in Musical Dance Offs this world would be a much safer…..and more entertaining place.
I am so sick of self hate, I don’t care what a woman is born with as long as its neat. Damn, all these years and we still have learned nothing, helmet wigs, ugly braids down to the butt, big giant beyonce weaves….all garbarge, go natural no matter what texture, curly, beady, straight, and any other fashion, no one is better than the next.
ok number 1 im black and i got nice long curly sort hair and its not a weave or relaxed or permed my mom and dad wont let me get one and if u have nappy hair so what just as long as u know what to do with it
This song is so true. People always use to call me light bright, and yellow crayon. And say that I wanted to be white. Such a shame that this still goes on today.
The difference Spike did Malcolm X, and the Inside Man. Tyler Perry’s movies all suck and Bill Cosby at least sounds rational in his interviews.
Tupac spitting in the camer and saying he hates all white people, common dude.
Yea they did have long hair as children. I had some people say to me that was only because they were children and when they grew up then it didn’t want to grow. As if something really changed inside them. No it was on the outside of them, what they were doing to it. And I can’t stand when mothers say its too hard to do their kids hair anymore so they relax or straighten it. If you just styled and detangaled right and learned about the type of hair then it wouldn’t be so hard.
That’s how your suppose to do it. Good that you don’t damage your hair permanently. I wish more women would do this, they’d have way healthier hair! I don’t see why they have to relax or straighten there hair and then get a weave on top of it sometimes. And then they wonder why there hair is so short and damaged. Thank you for being smart and nice about and toward your hair!
Spike Lee is Blasting Tyler Perry 4 Madia and House of Pain saying it’s buffoonish and Jiggabooish.what the heck is this and She’s gotta have it?! his movie stereotyping black females as loose and just gotta have it. Her tits were flapping and bony azz Spike was naked..yuk! Thats what I call the Bill Cosby syndrome, When Cosby was starting out in Blacksploitation movies, he was a street hustla and cursing in movies, but when he became a Huckstable, he chastised rappers 4 doing the same thing!
Now let me dispell one myth…..I’m natural and love my natural hair however I do on occassion wear weaves and that is simply b/c I am a woman and I like to change up my look I don’t think that has anything to do with not loving your own beauty. I love my curly hair however if I want to wear it straight I refuse to put direct heat on my hair and I refuse to straighten my hair so i’d rather go with a weave or wig, it’s just healthier and a personal preference.
I love Tisha Campell and Jasmine in this film together. i’m glad they are in it together. they are so alike in many ways.

Why didn’t this scene win an award? It’s some of the best choreography I’ve ever seen in a motio picture.

this is terence blanchard…and branford marsalis at their best. ~raghkstar
Proteins in your body build muscles the protein in your hair builds strength and body.
